The Kings dealt for 26-year old Greivis Vasquez in the off-season and he will be the starting point guard for them in 2013-14. He played in 78 games (all starts) for the Hornets (now Pelicans) last year and he averaged 34.4 minutes, 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. Vasquez has now played in 214 games (105 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 24.5 minutes, 9.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game. He will keep everyone involved in the offense, as he is a pass first point guard. 24-year old Isaiah Thomas will be a solid backup for the Kings in 2013-14. Thomas played in 79 games (62 starts) for the Kings last year and he averaged 26.9 minutes, 13.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He has now played in 144 games (99 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 26.2 minutes, 12.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. 22-year old rookie Ray McCallum will be the #3 point guard for the Kings this year. He was a second round pick in last year’s NBA Draft.
PROJECTED GRADE FOR THE POINT GUARDS IN 2013-14: B
